About Harley House Care Home

Harley House has been established for the last 30 years, to enable older people (over 50 years of age) from our multi-cultural and socially diverse town to continue living as independently as possible by receiving care and support consistent with their incapacities and disabilities.

Harley house is a registered nursing home, with the CQC, which provides high standard accommodation and care for 28 residents who may be residential or nursing and long or term. View a copy of our most recent inspection report. The family run home is under the personal supervision and care of the managing director Krishna Patel. Her daily personal involvement, together with that of the manager of the home, Salome Mapfeka, ensures that the highest standards of residential care are always met.

The home has 25 rooms, all of which meet the required standard. 22 are single and 3 are for shared occupation. All the rooms have wash basins with hot and cold water, and 8 of the single rooms have en-suite facilities. Each of the 25 rooms also has a 24 hour nurse call system. The home has 2 lifts which can carry up to 4 persons and 4 bathrooms with specialist’s equipment.

In addition to the Manager Salome Mapfeka (a registered nurse), the home employs qualified nurses, care assistants (full-time/part-time), and domestic staff including a chef. Part of the team also includes an activities co-ordinator and a full time maintenance person. Most of our care staff live in the city and are familiar with the area which helps the residents. There are 2 care staff members available through the night and 4 care staff members during the day. A registered nurse is always on duty 24 hours. All staff receive training on the homes philosophies and values.
